Web Portal: Internet access dedicated to specific business websites for the primary purpose of notifying consumers of the website and making them comfortable with using their website. Web Portals like this can also be strategically placed away from the businesses premises where targeted consumers are likely to accumulate while waiting for a product or service (ex: auto/lube/tire shops, motor vehicle department, restaurants, airports, bus/train stations, doctors offices). This helps extend business presence. This is especially effective advertising for local businesses, where a main menu presents each affiliated business to the user. Although web portals can also fill the purpose of enabling in-store online ordering for items that are not in stock, the "In-Store Online Ordering" application (listed under "Retail Applications") offers improved performance and security over the Web Portal method. Web Portals can still, nonetheless, fit this need. |
